First week of the college

My father returned to my home town on 21st. I was in my best friend AjayKrishna alias Gajjiga's house. I have my first day of the college on 23rd August, 2007. Finally I am done with my shopping in Spencer Plaza and arrived at the room no. 308 of our hostel by 22nd noon.

It was in the morning of 23rd that I had seen Santosh’s family in my room. His grandmother was crying to leave him. I tried to console her. I was pretty happy that my roommate was from Rajamundry, AP. I may not have been comfortable with some other person on my first day of graduation.

We then went to the Auditorium for the Inaugural function. We felt disgusting that speech was in tamil. Thank god, we took almost the last row. Off course, that was my favourite place in any session. I don’t really remember anything of that occasion because we were very busy in talking about our own lives. The last 30 min was discussion about some unknown guy wearing a black shirt and sitting about 3 rows ahead of us. One of the senior who was volunteering the occasion, came to us and asked, “Do you know the name of that guy??” pointing towards him. We came to know that he messed up with seniors on the first day of the college.  We decided not to talk to such guys and must avoid this guy in particular. After the function when we were leaving, we saw that guy was being ragged up. Felt pity on him and moreover escaped the situation.

On the next day we had our first class. Almost in the recess, that black shirt guy came to me and santosh. He introduced himself as Narsa Reddy, Hyderabad. Hahaha!!! We maintained our smiling faces with a great difficulty. As we decided previously, we must be far from him… so we did. The very same day, I went to my home town, Nellore for the weekend.

I returned on 26th, i.e. on Sunday. When I was back, I was shocked to see Reddy in my room. They told me that the seniors of room no. 304 have asked me to meet immediately. I went to their room. They are about 7 guys namely Siva, Pradeep, Pawan, Rajesh, Rajesh Chowdary, Bhawadeep. They gave me two options i.e. either to give the intro fully in Telugu or fully in English. I preferred English.  I told all my details along with my home town Nellore. Then suddenly, they took me close and started talking friendly because most of my seniors are from Nellore.  Then one bro named RajaSekhar entered the room. He seemed to be very serious. All others asked me to salute to him. I did the SRM salute to him. He was very close to me. So, it looked very awkward. All of them started laughing with my jokes and Pawan anna rolled on the floor. Then he vomited. I understood that they were drunk and RajaSekhar anna was very funny. Finally I was very happy that they were friendly and said that we are like their brothers. They insisted that we won’t be ragged by any other state seniors and Telugu guys must maintain the unity.

We were about to sleep, then I asked Santosh, “How did seniors come to know about me???” he replied, Reddy told them. I just wanted to kick that asshole, who is sleeping in his room .i.e. 313. But I didn’t dare to mess up with him in the very 1st week of the college. Then we discussed about the ragging done to us. They included Shakeela Table, Songs, Dance, delivering film Dialogues, Sita-Geeta, many SRM salutes till we obtained perfection, etc... To talk about SRM salute, it is similar to that of the salute in the “Happy Days” movie but still worser. The twist is that, the movie was released later. The SRM salute was in practice for more than 6 years in my college.

Finally, the first week of the college was cool, enthusiastic, and little bit fearful.
